Authorship Policy

The Global Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (GJMPS) follows internationally recognized standards for authorship and publication ethics. The journal is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing.

Authorship should accurately reflect individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research work and manuscript preparation.

Criteria for Authorship

An individual should qualify as an author only if they have made substantial contributions to one or more of the following:

  • conception or design of the study

  • data collection, analysis, or interpretation

  • drafting or critically revising the manuscript

  • approval of the final manuscript version

  • accountability for the integrity and accuracy of the work

All authors must agree to be listed as authors and approve the submitted version of the manuscript.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • managing communication with the journal

  • ensuring all authors approve the manuscript

  • confirming the accuracy of author information

  • coordinating revisions and responses during peer review

  • ensuring compliance with journal policies and ethical standards

The corresponding author acts on behalf of all co-authors throughout the publication process.

Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section.

Examples include:

  • technical assistance

  • language editing

  • administrative support

  • funding acquisition without intellectual contribution

  • general supervision

Acknowledged individuals should provide permission to be named where applicable.

Changes in Authorship

Requests for:

  • addition of authors

  • removal of authors

  • changes in author order

after manuscript submission must be formally requested and justified.

Such requests require:

  • written consent from all listed authors

  • explanation for the change

  • approval from the editorial office

The journal reserves the right to reject unjustified authorship modifications.

Authorship Disputes

The journal does not adjudicate authorship disputes directly. In cases of disagreement, authors may be asked to resolve the matter through their institution or relevant research authority before editorial processing continues.

The journal may suspend review or publication until the dispute is resolved.

Ghost, Gift, and Guest Authorship

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • ghost authorship

  • gift authorship

  • honorary authorship

  • guest authorship

All listed authors must have made genuine scholarly contributions to the work.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Authorship

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors.

AI systems:

  • cannot take responsibility for research integrity

  • cannot approve manuscripts

  • cannot assume accountability for published work

Authors using AI tools for language editing or technical assistance must disclose significant AI usage where applicable.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • ensuring originality of the manuscript

  • maintaining data accuracy and integrity

  • disclosing conflicts of interest

  • obtaining ethical approvals where required

  • complying with journal publication ethics policies

Any form of authorship misconduct may result in:

  • manuscript rejection

  • publication correction

  • retraction

  • notification to institutions where necessary

Compliance with International Standards

The journal follows authorship recommendations and ethical principles established by:

  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

All authors submitting to GJMPS are expected to comply with these standards and uphold responsible research and publication practices.
