Research Misconduct

The Global Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (GJMPS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, ethical publishing, and responsible scientific communication. The journal does not tolerate any form of research misconduct and takes all ethical concerns seriously.

All submitted manuscripts are expected to comply with internationally accepted ethical standards and publication guidelines.


Definition of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • plagiarism

  • duplicate publication

  • self-plagiarism

  • data fabrication

  • data falsification

  • image manipulation

  • unethical experimentation

  • citation manipulation

  • authorship manipulation

  • undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • submission of fraudulent or misleading information

Any attempt to deliberately misrepresent research findings or violate ethical standards is considered misconduct.


Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

Authors must submit only original work that has not been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • copying text without citation

  • unattributed use of published material

  • redundant publication

  • simultaneous submissions to multiple journals

All manuscripts may undergo plagiarism screening before peer review and publication.


Data Fabrication and Falsification

Authors must ensure that all research data, analyses, and findings presented in the manuscript are accurate, authentic, and reliable.

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • fabrication of data or results

  • manipulation of research findings

  • selective reporting of data

  • falsification of experimental outcomes

If concerns arise regarding data integrity, the journal may request original data, ethical approvals, or supporting documentation.


Image Manipulation

Images, figures, radiographs, microscopy images, and graphical data must accurately represent the original research findings.

Unacceptable practices include:

  • deceptive image enhancement

  • selective alteration

  • duplication of images

  • misleading figure manipulation

Any image adjustments must preserve the scientific accuracy of the data.


Ethical Compliance

Research involving:

  • human participants

  • patient information

  • clinical samples

  • animals

must comply with recognized ethical standards and institutional regulations.

Authors must provide:

  • ethics committee approval

  • informed consent statements where applicable

  • ethical compliance information within the manuscript

Failure to comply with ethical standards may result in rejection or retraction.


Authorship Misconduct

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • ghost authorship

  • honorary authorship

  • gift authorship

  • unauthorized inclusion or removal of authors

All listed authors must have made significant scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.


Reviewer and Editorial Misconduct

Reviewers and editors are expected to:

  • maintain confidentiality

  • avoid conflicts of interest

  • provide fair and unbiased evaluations

  • avoid misuse of unpublished information

Any unethical editorial or peer-review behavior will be investigated seriously.


Investigation of Misconduct

Allegations of research misconduct may be investigated:

  • after publication

The journal may request:

  • original data

  • ethical approval documents

  • author explanations

  • institutional clarification

Investigations are conducted fairly, confidentially, and according to internationally recognized ethical guidelines.


Corrective Actions

If research misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take appropriate actions including:

  • manuscript rejection

  • publication correction

  • article retraction

  • removal of published content

  • publication of expressions of concern

  • notification to institutions or funding agencies

  • temporary or permanent submission restrictions

The severity of actions depends on the nature and extent of the misconduct.
